Title Update #6 is live now, called the First Frost Patch it is here to improve the FC 25 experience right at the beginning of December.
Let's take a look at the Top 5 changes in the First Frost Patch for FC 25:
1. New Player Roles
Building on the FC IQ system we have 2 new Player Roles added to the game:
With the Classic 10 Role your CAM will be occupying the pocket of space just behind the attacker, you can set the focus to Attack to keep them in central positions or to Wide which will let them move across the width of the pitch to create chances.
With the Wide Half Role your CDMs will drop into the Fullback position if set to Defend or the Wingback position when set to Build-Up in position. This allows for more wide cover in transition, especially if your wide defenders move up the pitch and allows you to stop the transition from happening in wide areas.
2. New Role Focuses
On top of the new Player Roles, multiple Focuses have been added to existing Player Roles letting us use these roles in even more unique ways.
The new Focuses added to the game are:
- Build-Up
- Aggressive
- Ball-Winning
- Support
You can check out the purpose and positioning of all these roles on the FUT GG Roles page.
3. Rush Ultimate Team Quality of Life Updates
Rush has been one of the most refreshing additions to FC 25 with the 5v5 gameplay, unfortunately it had a huge problem with people choosing to go AFK and making the experience unenjoyable for the rest.
Two major changes have come to Rush with the First Frost patch:
- The Match Length of a single Rush game has been reduced from 7 minutes to 5 minutes making it easier to finish your games
- An updated Idle Kick system is being implemented, this means that players will be kicked more frequently for being idle in a Rush game, the detection doesn't reset when the ball goes out of play or in the pause menu
This should make playing Rush more enjoyable and we can get back to the mode to get rewards, play with friends and complete evolutions as well.
4. AI Positioning Improvements
Two major AI player movement models are being updated with the new patch, one in attack and one in defence. These changes will help make the gameplay feel smoother and try to curb some broken elements in the game:
- Attack - Players would take too long to come back onside after making a run into an offside position, the update should make them track their runs better and correct their position once they wander
- Defence - The infamous Kick-Off Glitch was a big problem in both FC 24 and FC 25, it happened because AI defenders weren't able to track the runs of attackers at the start of the game, the update will allow defenders to track runs deeper and hopefully stop the quick attack from kick off
Playing some games with the new patch it looks like the implementation of these changes was successful to a degree, conceding Kick-Off goals is a lesser concern now!
5. Skill Move Buffs
Some Skill Moves have been given boosts and buffs, especially when performed by players with lower Star Skill Move attributes to make their execution more realistic from professional footballers.
Here are the Skill Moves that have had updates:
- Stop and Turn - Increased Speed and Consistency for 3-Star/2-Star Skill Moves players
- Drag Backs - Slightly Increased Speed
- Jog Fake Shots - Increased Speed for 3+ Star Skill Moves players
- Roulette - Increased Consistency for 2-Star Skill Moves players
There have been more changes implemented for both Ultimate Team, Gameplay and other game modes, you can check out the entire Pitch Notes for the First Frost Update here.
