After scoring 6 and assisting 2 goals in just 4 games, Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has won the Premier League POTM award for the month of April, and the POTM SBC in FUT has been duly released. It’s Haaland’s first POTM award this year, which is remarkable given the season he’s had, especially as he’s already broken the record for the most goals in a single Premier League season with games to spare, but he’s finally managed to bag himself the monthly accolade.
The rating of Haaland’s POTM Item is lower than both his TOTS Item and TOTY Item, which was expected and is therefore not as brilliant as that version as a result (and is in fact almost identical to his OTW Item), but seeing as the SBC is a lot cheaper to complete (~350,000 coins) compared to buying the TOTS and TOTY versions, and is still a capable striker in the right hands, is the POTM SBC worth completing?
Well, let’s start by looking at the positives, and there are plenty:
- 92 Positioning, 97 Finishing, 97 Shot Power will make him a clinical striker.
- 97 Strength and 89 Aggression and his Unique body type and his 6'5" frame make him a capable target man.
- There's a slight Pace split - his Acceleration is 85 compared to his 97 Sprint Speed - but with him being Lengthy on a Basic Chemistry Style, he will feel rapid once he gets going.
- He’s also been given a +1 upgrade to his Weak Foot, so he’s now got a 4-star Weak Foot.
However, there are a few issues, notably his 78 Balance and 83 Agility, but the glaring issue with this POTM Item is the fact that it's basically the same as his OTW version (which can be bought for either the same price as the SBC or cheaper by the way) so there really isn't anything new to shout about here.
Which Chemistry Style should you use on POTM Erling Haaland?
It doesn’t seem that long ago when the FUT community was clambering for Lengthy strikers like Haaland, and even though the perceived effectiveness of Lengthy players was dampened after a patch some months ago, it’s still the best AcceleRATE archetype for him, so any Chemistry Style that makes him Lengthy, such as Hawk or Hunter will work best for him.
Premier League POTM Erling Haaland: Complete or Yeet?
If you weren’t lucky enough to pack or unable to afford Haaland’s TOTS Item this week, this POTM Item is an adequate alternative, especially if you can craft him over the course of the TOTS promo, but the fact that his OTW is basically the same Item and is cheaper makes this POTM version already seem redundant.
If you really want a clinical striker like Erling Haaland for your team, Harry Kane’s TOTS Item is half the price of the cost of the SBC and, judging by what the FUT community has been saying about TOTS Kane, he’s a phenomenon, so I’d yeet this SBC and get Kane instead.
