Future Stars Items in EA FC 27 can upgrade based on real domestic league performances, tracked from Friday 9 October 2026. There are four possible upgrades: +1 OVR at four starts, another +1 at eight starts (capped at 86 and then 87), a PlayStyle+ for goals and assists or clean sheets, and a 5-star Weak Foot at a higher threshold. Players in NWSL, MLS, Liga MX and Argentina's Liga Profesional have lower thresholds. Here is how it works.

How do Future Stars live upgrades work in FC 27?
Each Future Stars Item is tracked in its domestic league from 9 October 2026, and each threshold unlocks its upgrade once. Cup and continental matches do not count: EA's campaign guide specifies domestic league performance only. EA has not published an end date for the tracking window.
The two OVR upgrades come from starts alone, and both are capped. The first cannot take an Item above 86 and the second cannot take it above 87, so an Item already rated 87 or higher gains nothing from starts. The remaining two upgrades depend on position: attackers and midfielders need goals and assists combined, defenders and goalkeepers need clean sheets.
Rio Ngumoha's 89-rated Item shows how the caps work in practice. Starts cannot raise his rating, so his upgrades come from goals and assists: a PlayStyle+ at seven, and a 5-star Weak Foot at ten. Ngumoha's Items are in packs from Friday 9 to Friday 16 October 2026.
Which positions count as attackers and midfielders?
CM, CAM, LW, LM, RW, RM and ST are tracked on goals and assists. GK, RB, LB, CB and CDM are tracked on clean sheets. The split follows the position on the Future Stars Item, so a CDM counts as a defender even if the player's club uses them further forward.
What if the player already has a 5-star Weak Foot or a PlayStyle+?
The upgrade converts rather than being lost. EA's guide sets two rules:
- A player who already has a 5-star Weak Foot receives 5-star Skill Moves instead.
- A player who already has an active PlayStyle+ receives one extra base PlayStyle instead of a second PlayStyle+. Future Stars Items are limited to one PlayStyle+ from this system.
Why are the thresholds lower for NWSL, MLS, Liga MX and Liga Profesional?
EA has not given a reason, but those four leagues are closer to the end of their seasons in October than the European leagues are, so fewer fixtures remain in the tracking window. The reduced thresholds are two and three starts for the OVR upgrades, two goals and assists or clean sheets for the PlayStyle+, and four goals and assists or three clean sheets for the Weak Foot.

Do cup or Champions League games count?
No. Only domestic league matches are tracked.
What is the highest rating an Item can reach from starts?
87. The first upgrade is capped at 86 and the second at 87.
Can an Item earn two PlayStyles+?
No. The limit is one, and a second qualifying threshold adds a base PlayStyle instead.
How many times can one Item upgrade?
Up to four: two from starts, one from goals and assists or clean sheets, and one more from a higher goals and assists or clean sheet threshold.
Does Rio Ngumoha get upgrades?
Not from starts, because his Item is already 89. He can still earn the PlayStyle+ at seven goals and assists and 5-star Weak Foot at ten.
