What is the PlayStyles Lab in EA FC 27?
The PlayStyles Lab is an Evolutions feature that lets you choose the PlayStyles and PlayStyles+ on eligible Player Items. It launched in FC 26 on 4 June 2026 with Festival of Football, where cards arrived blank and you filled every slot yourself, free and without limits. When does the PlayStyles Lab start in FC 27?
EA has said Season 1, which runs until Thursday 22 October 2026, and nothing more specific. Season 1 covers Ones to Watch, Destined for Glory and Future Stars, and EA has not said which Items the Lab will attach to. With Future Stars still to come in FC 27, and the first PlayStyles Lab experience in FC 26 built around FUT Birthday players, Future Stars players look the likely fit.
How will the PlayStyles Lab work in FC 27?
Three changes are confirmed: eligible Items come with some PlayStyles pre-applied, requirements vary by PlayStyle, and the Lab runs throughout the year.
- Pre-applied PlayStyles. You fine-tune part of the card rather than building from zero. EA's stated reason is to keep each Item recognisable as that player.
- Varying requirements. Some PlayStyles will take "more time or effort to acquire". EA has not said whether that means matches, Objectives, Tokens or coins. In FC 26 everything was free with no cooldown.
- Recurring. The FC 26 Lab lived inside two summer campaigns, having started life as Birthday Bakery during FUT Birthday. The FC 27 version should surface repeatedly with different Items.
- Three PlayStyles+ maximum, even by the end of FC 27. This is the FC 27 cap on any Item, down from five, so the Lab cannot go past it.
Unless EA says otherwise, expect the FC 26 structure underneath: two tabs under Evolutions (PlayStyles+ Lab and Base PlayStyles Lab), one PlayStyle per Lab Evolution, pick the PlayStyle then the player, every position including goalkeepers.

Can you sell PlayStyles Lab players in FC 27?
Expected yes, after removing all Evolutions. A Lab Evolution makes a card untradeable, as it did in FC 26. EA's FC 27 Evolutions help page confirms that Remove All Evolutions restores tradeable status if the card was tradeable before, but it also removes the PlayStyles you added, and removal is final. EA has not addressed Lab Items specifically.

Pick for the role the player fills, not for the most PlayStyles+ you can fit.
