The first thing FC 27 Ultimate Team does is ask you to pick a league pairing, whether on Web App, Companion App, Console or PC. Your choice decides which four Foundations objective players you can earn and which league your Foundations packs and player picks come from. Once you confirm, it is locked for the rest of the year and cannot be changed.
This is new for EA FC 27. A menu choice on day one has never locked FUT players out of content before.
Our pick is LaLiga, with the Premier League very close behind. LaLiga is the safest choice, its four reward players are the best set, and its packs give the best value for building your squad later. The Premier League has the best single card in Miley and is the right pick if you are building an English squad.
Below is every reward for each league with its GG rating, the objective that unlocks it, and which players are worth an Evolution.
How the EA FC 27 league selection works
On your first load into Ultimate Team you see eight league tiles. They are paired by country, so there are four choices:
- England: Premier League and Barclays Women's Super League
- Spain: LALIGA EA SPORTS and Liga F Moeve
- Germany: Bundesliga and Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga
- France: Ligue 1 McDonald's and Arkema Première Ligue
The women's league in each pair does not change any rewards. Every player you can earn from this choice is from the men's league.
Your choice changes two things:
- Foundations objective players. The objectives are the same for everyone. The player you get for completing them is not. Each league has its own CB, LB, CM and ST, all untradeable.
- Foundations packs and picks. The 3x Gold Players Pack in The Journey Begins, the 77+ Gold Player Pick in First Team Dreams and the 2x 80-83 Gold Players Pack in Rising Through the Ranks all come from your chosen league.
The Premier League tile is selected by default. If you skip past the screen without choosing, you get England.
Which league should you pick in EA FC 27?
LaLiga is the safest option and gives the best value for building your squad later. The Premier League is very close behind. Between the two, it comes down to which league you want to build around.
The packs matter more than the players. Your Foundations packs only contain players from your chosen league, so how useful those packs are depends on how many good players that league has. LaLiga and the Premier League have far more players worth using than the Bundesliga or Ligue 1, so their packs are more likely to give you a player you will use.
LaLiga's four reward players are also the best set. They average 80.1 GG, they include the best CB and the best LB, and none of them finishes last in their position. And because LaLiga has so many high-rated cards, it is easy to build chemistry around LaLiga players as your squad improves, so the early rewards stay useful for longer.
The Premier League has the best single card in the whole selection, Miley (82.3 GG at CM). It also has the worst card, Lindelöf at CB, and the lowest average of the four.
The Bundesliga and Ligue 1 only make sense if you already want to build a squad from that league. Their packs contain fewer useful players, and apart from Sinayoko and Kofane their rewards finish third or fourth in every position.

Premier League rewards in EA FC 27
Your four: Victor Lindelöf (CB), Keane Lewis-Potter (LB), Lewis Miley (CM), Charalampos Kostoulas (ST).
Miley is the best card in the whole selection. He has 81 passing, 80 dribbling and 80 defending, and his 82.3 GG rating is more than a point clear of the next midfielder. He is the only one of the sixteen likely to start for most people.
Lewis-Potter is a decent third-choice LB (81 pace, 82 dribbling). FUT.GG rates him higher at LM (79.8) because of his Inside Forward++ role, but most people will use him at the back, where he is 77.7. Kostoulas has 85 pace and 79 shooting but the lowest GG rating of the four strikers. Lindelöf (60 pace, 74.4 GG) is the worst card in the selection as it stands, but see the Evolutions section below.
LaLiga rewards in EA FC 27
Your four: Carl Starfelt (CB), Gabriel Suazo (LB), Moi Gómez (CM), Hugo Duro (ST).
LaLiga is the only league where every reward finishes in the top three for its position, and it has the best full-back and the best centre-back. Suazo is the pick of the four: 81 pace, 82 physical and 77 defending is a good profile for a starter LB, and 80.4 GG is the best full-back rating of the sixteen. Starfelt is the best CB by a full point (82 defending, 83 physical). Moi Gómez has 83 passing and 82 dribbling but 65 pace, which is why he is behind Miley. Hugo Duro's 83 shooting is the best among the strikers, but 78 pace keeps him third.
Bundesliga rewards in EA FC 27
Your four: Robin Koch (CB), Daniel Svensson (LB), Ezechiel Banzuzi (CM), Christian Kofane (ST).
The Bundesliga finishes second at LB and ST and third at CB and CM. It never wins a position and never finishes last. Kofane is the standout: 85 pace, 81 shooting and 80 physical, and only Sinayoko rates higher up front. Banzuzi is a box-to-box midfielder with 81 physical, Svensson an all-round LB who rates slightly above Lewis-Potter, and Koch a slow centre-back with strong defensive numbers (83 defending, 85 physical, 68 pace).
Ligue 1 rewards in EA FC 27
Your four: Ismaelo Ganiou (CB), Nicolás Tagliafico (LB), Kevin Danois (CM), Lassine Sinayoko (ST).
Ligue 1 has the best striker and the worst full-back. Sinayoko is the most complete forward in the selection: 81 pace, 83 shooting, 81 dribbling and 82 physical. Ganiou is a strong second-best CB (82 defending, 83 physical). Danois has 80 passing and 81 dribbling but finishes last among the midfielders. Tagliafico is well-rounded but 71 pace puts him bottom of the full-backs.
Which objective unlocks each player?
The objectives are the same whichever league you pick. Only the player changes.
| Objective group | To get the player | Player |
|---|---|---|
| The Journey Begins | Complete "Lace 'em Up": play any Live Events match (or Rivals / Squad Battles). 4 objectives, 100 SP in total. | Your league's CB |
| First Team Dreams | Complete all three SBC objectives: the Getting Started group, the Bronze Upgrade group, and three SBC groups in total. 400 SP. | Your league's LB |
| Rising Through the Ranks | Five club-maintenance objectives, 250 SP. The group reward is a 2x 80-83 league Gold Players Pack and Transfer Market access. The midfielder is not listed on the group's reward card, so he is likely to be attached to one of the five objectives, as Lindelöf is in The Journey Begins. This has not been confirmed. | Your league's CM (expected) |
| Total Football | Finish The Journey Begins, First Team Dreams and Rising Through the Ranks. 3 objectives, 300 SP. | Your league's ST |
The CB only needs one match. The ST needs every other group finished first, so it takes longest.
Best EA FC 27 league selection players to evolve
GG ratings show how good a card is now. For Evolutions, what matters is how much a card can improve: its pace, and whether it has PlayStyles it cannot use.
Six of the sixteen have PlayStyles that do nothing for their position: Miley, Moi Gómez, Kofane, Hugo Duro, Sinayoko and Kostoulas. A wasted PlayStyle slot cannot be replaced, so avoid using these in an Evolution. All four strikers are on that list and none of the defenders are. The four centre-backs, the four left-backs, Banzuzi and Danois all have PlayStyles that suit their position, so every Evo slot on them is free.
The defenders rate low because of pace, not defending. Their defending and physical stats are already high, and pace is the stat Evolutions improve most. Lindelöf is the clearest example: with a pace Evo he becomes an 82-defending centre-back with free PlayStyle slots, earned by playing one match.
| Player | Position | League | Pace | DEF / PHY | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lindelöf | CB | Premier League | 60 | 82 / 76 | Best candidate. Only pace is missing. |
| Koch | CB | Bundesliga | 68 | 83 / 85 | Best defending and physical stats of the sixteen. Needs pace. |
| Tagliafico | LB | Ligue 1 | 71 | 81 / 80 | Good all-round stats. Needs pace. |
| Starfelt | CB | LaLiga | 74 | 82 / 83 | Already the best CB. Improves further with pace. |
| Ganiou | CB | Ligue 1 | 76 | 82 / 83 | Good now, better with pace. |
Suazo, Lewis-Potter and Svensson also have free PlayStyle slots but are already quick, so any Evo would need to improve other stats. The same applies to Banzuzi and Danois.
EA FC 27 league selection FAQ
Can you change your league in EA FC 27? No. Once you confirm your choice on the first load it is locked for the rest of the year.
Does the league you pick affect packs? Yes. The packs and player picks in the Foundations objectives only contain players from your chosen league.
Which league is selected by default? The Premier League tile is highlighted when the screen loads. If you skip past the screen, you get the Premier League.
Are the league selection rewards tradeable? No. Every Foundations reward, player or pack, is untradeable.
Where does the midfielder come from? Rising Through the Ranks is the only Foundations group without a player shown on its reward card. It is live with five objectives, so the midfielder is probably attached to one of those, but this has not been confirmed.
GG ratings correct at time of writing and will change as the meta settles. EA may update objective groups. Player and objective data via FUT.GG.
