One of the biggest complaints players had during FC 26 was just how overpowered certain PlayStyles felt. At times, the meta seemed completely dictated by a handful of top tier PlayStyles, making raw player stats feel like a secondary concern. If your striker did not have Finesse Shot+, or your winger lacked Rapid+, they almost felt unusable.

EA Sports has heard the feedback. As detailed in the official EA FC 27 Gameplay Deep Dive, the development team is pushing a massive rebalancing effort to close the gap between base attributes and PlayStyle boosts.

The goal for FC 27 is simple: make raw stats matter again. Major meta staples like Finesse Shot, Rapid, Pinged Pass, and Low Driven have all seen significant tweaks to make them less automatic.

Here is the quick breakdown of every PlayStyle nerf and buff coming to EA FC 27. For the highly technical breakdown, you can check out EA's full pitch notes.

Full List of EA FC 27 PlayStyle Changes

Finesse Shot

  • Raw shooting stats matter more. The spin and speed of the shot now rely heavily on the player's actual attributes rather than just the PlayStyle badge.

Technical

  • The gap between the base PlayStyle and the Plus version has been reduced so the Plus tier is not drastically better.

Intercept

  • Players with high defending stats but no PlayStyle have been buffed. They will now have better reach and keep the ball more often when stepping in to intercept.

Rapid

  • The dribbling speed boost has been slightly nerfed for both tiers, bringing them closer to how normal players sprint with the ball.

Quick Step

  • The initial burst of speed has been nerfed. Your player's actual Acceleration stat is now much more important to getting off the mark.

Pinged Pass

  • The receiver no longer gets a magically perfect first touch. The PlayStyle now only benefits the player actually making the pass.

Tiki Taka

  • Similar to Pinged Pass, the receiver no longer gets an artificial first touch boost. The passing animation speed boost has also been removed.

Jockey

  • Normal players get a boost to their jockey sprint speed, while players with the PlayStyle got their burst of speed exiting a jockey nerfed. Core defensive stats matter much more here now.

Precision Header

  • The massive accuracy difference between the base PlayStyle and PlayStyle+ has been balanced out to make the regular version more viable.

Low Driven

  • The artificial power boost is gone. How hard you hit a low driven shot now depends entirely on your input and the player's shooting stats, though the PlayStyle still helps with accuracy.
