World Cup ICON Robin van Persie
The first World Cup ICONs have arrived in FUT! And not all of them are appearing in Packs, as EA has confirmed that some will only be available in SBCs and Objectives. The first SBC goes to former Arsenal and Netherlands striker Robin van Persie, with a Dynamic Image paying homage to his diving header during the 2014 World Cup. Strangely, this World Cup version has only 79 Heading Accuracy and 68 Jumping, so it seems his in-game stats don’t seem to reflect his diving header that well!
The SBC, as well as the new World Cup ICON Items, work in the same way as regular ICON SBCs and Items, so there is nothing that should come across as unusual for this, except for the special, red-emblazed ICON Item. So they don't work any differently in terms of Chemistry, for example.
What you do get is an ICON that will ONLY be available in this SBC. It won't be in Packs, and it won't be in any of those SBCs that guarantee ICONs, so you won't be able to pack him or buy him from the market.
How much does the World Cup Robin van Persie SBC cost?
Currently, the price of the SBC squads combined is around 290,000 coins starting from scratch, but it will be cheaper if you have some untradeables in your Club that you can use. The requirements for the SBC are listed below:

Squad 6: 87-Rated Squad
- Min. Team Rating: 87
The SBC will expire on Sunday, December 25th, so you have until Christmas Day to complete it if you want to.
Is the World Cup Robin van Persie SBC worth completing?
While this van Persie SBC seems reasonably priced for an ICON at around 290,000 coins, it’s more than 100,000 coins more expensive to complete than what his Middle ICON version is to buy on the market, and seeing as this World Cup version only has +1 upgrades on all his Attributes except for Physical which is somehow the same, it’s not a particularly worthwhile upgrade over his Middle version.
Although ICONs are, of course, different from FUT Heroes, if we compare the van Persie SBC to the World Cup FUT Hero Fernando Morientes SBC that’s currently out too, it costs around 130,000 coins more to complete than the Morientes SBC, and considering their stats are roughly similar level, perhaps it’s not amazing value compared to him, but obviously, there’s almost a hidden ‘premium’ for ICON Items.
So, unless you’re a Dutch or van Persie fan, this SBC might not be worth completing, especially if these ICON and other SBCs keep coming over the course of the Black Friday weekend and for the remainder of the World Cup, but it’s decent value for what you’re getting. Plus, as it's only available in this SBC, you won't be able to get this version via any other route, so that's something to remember if you're contemplating completing the SBC.
