EA has now shared more details on The World’s Game update, giving FC 26 players a much clearer picture of what is actually coming when the summer international football update lands on June 4. For most Ultimate Team players, the biggest takeaway is that the update brings a free 93 OVR ICON Pelé, three free Choose Your Journey Evolutions, a brand-new Token system, and a massive overhaul to how we customize cards.

That is what makes this update feel important. Yes, EA is rolling out its own international football experience, but for FUT players the real value is in the content that will hit the game over the summer and how much of it looks tied to actually playing rather than just opening store packs.

Free Pelé, Evolutions, and new ICONs

The headline addition for Ultimate Team is clearly Festival of Football, which will act as FC 26’s big summer international campaign. Players who log into FC 26 between June 5 and July 24 will be able to earn a 93 OVR Festival of Football ICON Pelé along with three Choose Your Journey Evolutions, giving the update an immediate, tangible FUT hook.

This isn't just a handful of free items. Over 100 new international players are being added to the FUT pool, along with two brand-new ICONs: Rivellino and Mario Kempes. Both will debut with special Greats of the Game versions on June 19, before their Base versions enter packs on June 26.

The Evolutions system is also getting a much-needed overhaul. Following the update, players will finally be able to use Evo Undo to fully reset Evolutions in their club, returning tradable players to their tradable status. EA is also introducing Evo Repeatables, giving players more entries to grind through upcoming Festival of Football content.

PlayStyles Lab and customizable PlayStyles+

Customizable PlayStyles were easily one of the biggest hits from the FUT Birthday promo, proving just how much longevity a card can have when players get to handpick their preferred traits. EA is fully leaning into that success for this update by introducing the new PlayStyles Lab.

Instead of being locked into EA's choices, the PlayStyles Lab allows players to choose their own base PlayStyles and PlayStyles+ for specific Festival of Football items. According to the pitch notes, the eligible card types include:

  • Festival of Football: Star Performer
  • Festival of Football: National Pride
  • Festival of Football: National Pride Champions
  • Glory Hunters

Interestingly, older FUT Birthday items are also being folded into this new system to officially replace the original Birthday Bakery Evolutions. The key difference here—and a major win for squad builders—is that players can experiment with these custom PlayStyles on new players and still sell them on the Transfer Market if they decide not to keep them long-term.

Festival of Football Tokens

EA is also introducing Tokens as a new reward system in FUT. Importantly, this isn't just a side feature—Tokens will become the primary way to earn rewards in FUT moving forward.

Festival of Football Tokens will be earned through gameplay and activities like Rivals, Squad Battles, Rush, Live Events, Objectives, and SBCs, and exchanged for players, packs, Evolutions, and club customization content. There will be a weekly cap of 1,000 Festival of Football Tokens, with a total of 5,000 Tokens available across the campaign.

Crucially, EA says Festival of Football Tokens will not be available in store packs. This looks like a proper gameplay-driven grind rather than another system heavily tied to spending.

FUT Champions Tokens and Store

Tokens are also fundamentally changing how weekend rewards work. Starting in Season 8, EA is introducing FUT Champions Tokens and a dedicated FUT Champions Store. This store will feature a range of rewards, including a rotating selection of special Red FUT Champions Player Items each week.

The goal is to give players more flexibility based on their skill level and availability. If you only pick up a few wins each weekend, you can save your Champions Tokens over multiple weekends for bigger rewards. If you regularly finish with a high win count, you will still earn additional Coins on top of your Champions Tokens, giving you more control over the specific rewards you want to redeem.

Gameplay changes

The World’s Game update is also where some previously announced gameplay changes are finally expected to land. EA says the update includes:

  • The previously announced Bruiser changes.
  • An Intercept update allowing players with 90+ Interceptions to access PlayStyle animations.
  • Team Press adjustments.
  • Evolutions improvements.
  • Squad Selector updates in FUT.

The Bruiser shoulder barge nerf is a major community request that is finally on the way as part of this update. We already broke down those changes in full here: Bruiser Shoulder Barges Finally Nerfed in Upcoming FC 26 Feedback Update.

For FUT players, this update really comes down to a few core pillars: free rewards, the PlayStyles Lab, gameplay-earned Tokens (including the new Champs Store), and a summer content cycle that looks much more active than a one-off themed drop.

The World’s Game update arrives on June 4, with the free login rewards available from June 5 through July 24. Keep an eye on the FUT.GG homepage to track new players, Evolutions, and fresh content as everything starts arriving in game.
